A Distributed Document Management Approach for Workflow Support in the DBSA Architecture

Large and distributed organizations have to face a complex management problem: keeping track of state information of every “entity” (person, property, project, etc.). A traditional centralized database is not well suited if the communication between parts of the organization is not reliable or not “always-on’. In this paper we present an architecture, largely based on the distribution of formally structured documents, designed to support the tracking of “state changes” inside the organization.
